Full interview…
Name you wish to be called:
- aybs
Home town:
- i’m dutch… that’s all you need to know ;)
Cities where you can find your art:
- quite a lot actually… but mostly sticker stuff though.
Artist you respect.
- i respect anyone who just does his/her own thing and tries to be creative because he/she loves it… don’t care if it’s on or off the streets.
What is your favorite medium to use?
- do most of my stuff on my pc… but aside from that i think i’m mostly a marker guy. or stencils and cans. basicly just want to try everything!
How did you get into street art?
- started with stickers… just because it’s the easiest. then got into stencil (which i was making already for shirt printing) and paste-ups. but since i dont like carying bags around i mostly just do marker doodles now.
started with street ‘art’ mostly to get my creativity out and voice my discontent about society (yawn). but got sick of putting up angry negative thoughts so i dropped the whole politics vibe.
Other intrest.
- doll making, music, and television series :)
Your favorite music.
- ow i listen to everything! though judging from the reaction of friends to my music i do have to conclude i have a tendency toward the weird stuff…
What do you think the future of street art is?
- being exploited commercially, losing credibility, blowing itself up, dissapearing for a few years and then coming back again… thats what i think and see happening right now.
5 things you could’nt live without and why?
- music, music, music, music and my creativity!
Things you don’t like.
- pretentious pricks
Have you done any colabs with anyone? Who was your favorite?
- yup… did a few. my favourite would defenately be the ones i did riot68 and with the amazing D$!
What first brought you into the world of sticker art?
- the urge to put my work ‘out there’ for people to see.
What is your favorite medium to use?
- you already asked me this question before… you been drinking again ?
Have you ever shown in galleries or shows?
- yup… a few.
How long have you been creating art?
- been drawing and creating stuff all my life… but i DON’T create art… i just doodle a bit. not sure if i believe in the whole modern concept of ‘art’… but thats a whole different story :)
How many people have you traded with?
- haha… man i don’t know… not something i count
What do you like most about trading stickers?
- getting stuff put up all over the world ofcourse! and the fact that people like yer stuff enough to trade :)
What do you like least about trading stickers?
- making and sending out the packs… keep forgetting… i am chaos!
Do you prefer hand drawn or vinyl stickers?
- printed paper stickers… i always think its such a shame to see the hand drawn ones get torn and ripped down…
Are you apart of a sticker crew?
- nope…
What sets you apart from the crowd?
- nothing… i blend into crowds with ninja like stealth!
Where does your creativity come from?
- i think it was all the drugs when i was young ;) nah… i think it has probably more to do with my refusal to grow up :)
Tell us something about yourself we may not know.
- i can pee sitting down and still look cool!!
What has been keeping you busy?
- at the moment it’s a freelance job that i have to finish before next week… aaargh!
Whats next?
- no clue… and i don’t want to know… let it be a surprise for now :)
