TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF
a male, 30 years old and currently enjoying a cup of coffee sitting comfortable in my cozy little bubble somewhere in the netherlands.
just recently took on the i.am.doom name because i got tired of my old one (rrrr.aybs)… seem to have the tendency to get bored with stuff pretty easy so i switch alter-ego’s on a regular basis. well not really do a hardcore switch but new ones gradually take over old ones… guess i like to keep evolving as a person and my name evolves with it… or something like that at least…
but for the moment i like i.am.doom so i think it will stick for a while :)

i enjoy and am interested by loads of things… at the moment it’s mostly illustration and webdesign but i have been known to boldly ventured into the realm of plush making, t-shirt printing, painting, streetart and music. i like animals, cartoons, music, taking the dog to the woods and occasionally shamelessly picking my nose :)

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR ART
dunno really… people tend to ask that a lot and i never know what to answer… just everything my sensory organs pick up on i guess

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THE ART WORLD
well the question suggests i am involved in the art world ;) to be honest i don’t care much for being part of the art world or even be considered an artist.
i do spend most of my time on little creative projects though… i’m either working on some website, illustration, painting or whatever or, being a lazy bum and watching movies or series :)

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE
dunno… do i have a style? hard to describe… it shifts… feel like i’m either changing my style or searching for my style constantly. but i do tend towards the cartoony, vectoresk type of works.

WHAT IS THE MOST ANNOYING/INSPIRING THING ABOUT ONLINE ART COMMUNITIES
well they are online communities so there’s no real personal interaction. i find that annoying sometimes… mostly because i to often realize that i’ve been spending more time on my online life that i do on my real life one…

inspiring parts are of course the ability to show your work to loads of people from all over the work and get their feedback. and, maybe even more important, see other peoples work and learn new techniques or get new ideas.
also like i the little competitions and stuff people organize, they keep you motivated to keep creating new stuff.

i aspire to get better and reach a level where i’m actually impressed by my own work :) and hopefully have some good and fun times with inspiring people and be able to spend less time on boring stuff like work and more and more time on new exciting creative stuff!

DO YOU HAVE ANY FORMAL ARTISTIC TRAINING
nope… i’m originally trained as a lab technician… glad i never turned that one into a serious career! :)

WHAT’S IN YOUR MP3 PLAYER
couldn’t live without music but i never use an mp3 player really…

movies: survive style +5, apocalypse now, oldboy, waking life, team america world police, napoleon dynamite, all ghibli’s… to name a few
